Things To Do in Leeds

Kirkgate Market – Huge indoor market with local food, flowers, and gifts (1–2 hours)

Hyde Park – Lively student area with coffee shops and an indie cinema (1–2 hours)

Trinity Leeds & Victoria Gate – Shopping and restaurants in stylish settings (1–2 hours)

Canal Walk – Scenic and peaceful strolls by the water (1–2 hours)

Royal Armouries Museum – Fascinating (and free!) museum of arms and armour (2–3 hours)

1. Chester

• Chester Zoo (one of the UK’s best), beautiful cathedral, Roman walls

• A charming historic city with lots to explore

2. Haworth

• Brontë Parsonage Museum (their childhood home), parish church and graveyard, steep cobbled main street

• Classic English village with cafes, pubs, and literary history

Time to spend: 4–6 hours


3. Liverpool

• Albert Dock, The Beatles Story Museum, Cavern Club (live music during the day), potential Welsh village tour from the docks

• Great for Beatles fans and coastal vibes

4. Hebden Bridge

• Pretty riverside town, canal boats, cute shops and pubs, ducks sliding down the rocks!

• Best enjoyed in nice weather for walking and relaxing

5. Bolton Abbey (not in Bolton!)

• Ruined abbey, riverside walks, stepping stones, great scenery

• Similar to Fountains Abbey but a bit more compact

6. Lake District (a bit further out)

• Lakes, boat trips, hikes, towns like Windermere or Keswick

• Absolutely beautiful – worth the travel

• Betty’s Tea Room, gardens, Turkish Baths, shopping

• Spa town feel, relaxed and elegant

8. Ilkley

• Ilkley Moor (short walks), Cow and Calf Rocks, traditional tearooms

• Great mix of countryside and small-town charm

9. York

• York Minster, The Shambles, city walls, Viking Centre, river cruise

• Medieval city with loads of history
